Hello Crazy Fans,
The week just gone was not a good one for me. Northern Rock (NRK) did not fare too badly, but I expected it to roar ahead.
The other banks picked up nicely, but not nicely enough to make up for the losses I'm nursing for having too much faith in them in the Summer.
But as always, when you have a mixed and varied bag of shares, there were some that made up for the turkeys. These, in my case, were Gold Oil (GOO), ASOS (ASC) and Game Group (GMG).
That's the beauty of pennies shares, well, at least ones that aren't in the Footsie. They can buck the trend. You just want one to turn into a ten bagger (which isn't as rare as you might think) and you have enough defence to beat the nastiest week.
I keep my eye on the ShareCrazy bulletin board for my tips. If there are people on there who I've come to respect (you soon get to know who they are) then I occasionally go along with one of their babies. That's why I chose Equator Exploration (EEL).
At one stage shares in this baby were around 4p, I seem to recall, though you might have to look it up to make sure. My memory's not what it was. A short time ago they were about 8p. They only have to make up a micro fraction of their previous worth and I could have a bagger on my books.
However, there must have been very good reasons for a fall of that magnitude. And maybe those reasons haven't really gone away. So it's a risk. But as I have so many shares in my basket, the odd broken egg won't do too much harm. God bless!
