THAT WAS THE WEEK THAT WAS: 7TH - 11TH JANUARY 2008

Hello Gang,
It wasn't a great week, was it? We expected a bank rate cut, well sort of, and nothing happened. So the City got the sulks.
Never mind. You know how fast time passes in Crazyland. And a share which does not do well for weeks can suddenly take an almighty leap and double in two shakes of a lamb's tale.
That's the great thing about the lovely game. We see our shares dribble away in value and then all of a sudden one of them takes off and wipes out all the losses.
I have a great number of penny shares. Not a huge fortune is invested, because I only punt small amounts into each lowly stock.
But this wide choice gives me many more chances of striking it rich, making a big killing. Every year on average, I have two or three big bonanzas from exploding shares. This is an amazing relief.
It might be a twenty five bagger, or a fifty bagger or something more modest, like a ten bagger. But I average a few of these annually - and it helps to keep me in bread and milk.
So even in a very bad year for the Footsie, I make a reasonable profit. And in a good year for shares on the whole, I also do rather nicely out of the big blueys in my collection, bagging juicy dividends along the way.
This is not boasting - just giving away my system for keeping rather safe, while keeping some real chances of big thumping bonanzas along the way. And it's these mighty windfalls that keep me going - and make up for my many losing shares.
