THAT WAS THE WEEK THAT WAS: 4TH - 8TH DECEMBER 2006
From top share author MALCOLM STACEY

Hello Crazies,

Put your eggs in as many baskets as you can.

If you do that, your risk - especially with risky penny shares - is cut down considerably.

The only trouble is that the more companies you hold the less chance there is of making a real killing.

If you have a few companies, but put a lot into each, then you'll really hit the jackpot if you get a ten bagger. But you'll also lose a lot more money, if one of these few shares hits the skids.

So it's a matter of choice. How much do you want to risk?

This should depend on how much you can afford to lose. If you've done very well in Crazyland previously, you may want to take bigger chances with larger stakes in fewer companies.

But if you're just starting out, you probably want to invest small amounts in many firms. That way, you spread your chances of making a profit, but the profits will be small. You also minimise the amount of money you'll lose if one or a few of your shares goes down the pan.

Choices, choices choices. Don't you get sick of having to make 'em? Time for consolation mayhap - in the Punter's Return. God!
