Armchair Tycoon on the Web -- 27/07/00 Islington Gazette

Malcolm Stacey is the first to admit he's met some shady dealers in his time, but it's helped make him into the success he is today.

After the phenomenal popularity of his best selling book Armchair Tycoon, he can now boast to owning three houses and he's given up his day job. Malcolm of Riverside Road, Highbury has even inspired a website about how to make a killing on the stock market. It all began when a businessman read Malcolm's book and decided to put a few of his tips into practice. The result was instant success and the reader was so impressed he set up a website on stocks and shares called www.sharecrazy.com - and asked Malcolm to contribute to it.

Malcolm used to be a Radio Four presenter and a producer with The Cook Report.

Malcolm 48 said:" After I'd interviewed people I would ask them if I could ring them up later and get their tips. I collected them over five years. Some of them were real shady dealers."

"It annoys me that dealing in shares is still seen as snobbish. One in three people have stocks and shares. People have written to me saying the book has made them rich."

A follow up to Armchair Tycoon - Poolside Tycoon - proved just as popular but Malcolm has no plans to write any more. He's soon to move out of Highbury - and of course when he sells his house his first move will be to invest in some more shares.
