‘Mystery trader drives web surfers crazy!'
WESTERN TELEGRAPH - 22/10/03
The mystery of the 'Tenby Deckchair' took a new turn this week. A few more clues have trickled in as to the identity of this allusive trader in stocks and shares. Last week, the Western Telegraph revealed that an anonymous private investor was causing a stir by giving successful share tips on ShareCrazy.com, a website run by Malcolm Stacey, a former presenter with BBC Radio Four.
Thousands of ordinary people in south Wales log on daily to read the latest contributions from the Tenby Deckchair. And though the Deckchair keeps his or her identity a closely-guarded secret, Malcolm revealed: "We had a phone call from a woman with a local accent who claimed to be the Deckchair's personal assistant."
"She said her boss had seen the story on the Western Telegraph website and was intrigued by it. She also said the weather was chilly in London and asked if it was sunny in Tenby."
"I think it was a ruse, because we are fairly certain from some of his messages on the site, that the Deckchair lives in Pembrokeshire."
But last week's suggestion that 'Deckers' lives near Haverfordwest, is now discounted by other investors on the site. Word now is that Deckers may operate from somewhere in Pembroke.
"He or she makes a lot of references to Pembroke, and some of my neighbours are convinced that Deckers definitely lives in that area," said Malcolm.
"My own feeling is that the Deckchair is a woman, though certainly not living in London, as she claims on the ShareCrazy website."
Malcolm feels that the Deckchair enjoys making everybody scratch their heads as to her identity and he welcomes any suggestions as to who she might be. Please leave any more evidence on the website - www.sharecrazy.com.
