Blame me for Clinton's slide
An extract from Evil Knievil's diaries on www.t1ps.com - 17/02/08

Today on ShareCrazy.com we bring an exclusive extract from the diary of infamous bear raider, Evil Knievil taken from his popular thrice-weekly column on t1ps.com...

Monday, 11th February 2008:

It has been suggested to me that the £100,000 wagered on Mrs Clinton is on its way to money heaven. At the point that I backed her she appeared to have a 15 point poll lead over Mr Obama. It has not escaped my notice that almost as soon as my bet was laid that lead started eroding and just a few weeks later it seems as if Mr Obama has just won 4 primaries with margins of 20% plus over my chosen candidate. The political cusre of Evil has struck again and it may be prudent to admit that my Hilary for President bet looks to be somewhat in danger.

I do think I deserve some compensation for this. The American people should be aware that, given my track record, it was my wager on Hilary that did for her. There are no doubt many millions of good, honest, hard working, principled, non intern grabbing Americans (i.e. Republican voters) who should be greatful for my assistance and if any of them wish to show gratitude all offers are welcome. I do think that America has been saved from suffering under a woman whose nanny knows best approach reminds me of Patricia Hewitt. One really cannot blame poor Bill Clinton for his wanderings. There is only so much punishment a man can take.

There is little to report in the markets. I note that Nexus* (NXS) seems to think that it has sorted out its problems with PD. The recent statement rather back up what Boris Adlam was saying last time he popped over for a quick lemonade. If a deal is signed then I really think this could go to 3p qithin a year or so. Boris certainly has a lot of plans. I remain long.

Wednesday, 13rd February 2008:

It seems very improbable me that the mere suggestion that Warren Buffett might assist the solution of the bond insurers is sufficient to put the Dow up 200 points. Others seem to think it is.

I bought 3,500 Phorm at £25.50. Apparently it is going up. But I honestly have no idea why.

I see in today's FT that Blavod Extreme Spirits* (BES) might be encouraged by the news that somebody has paid £450m for a vodka brand which sells circa 2m cases a year. Apparently, that is nothing in the world of vodka brands. So all in all it bodes well for Blavod. I stay long.

Astonishingly, Northern Rock (NRK) sits at 96p. Branson who has now been publicly identified by HMG as the preferred bidder (the only other runner being the even more grossly under-financed management buy out team) is told he must offer more. Why should he if he is the only bidder? The truth is that HMG realises that subsidising Branson is not a working proposition at this level. I therefore think some form of nationalisation will be the answer. (People ask me how this is to be done and, as I see it, a rights issue of 100 billion new shares at 5p is the way forward. Of course this means that Northern Rock will collapse. Its current 96p will be merely a wistful dream. I stay short .

Yours sincerely

Evil's idiot Diarist
